During the 2012-2013 school year, business will be on year two of the curriculum cycle.

During year one of the curriculum cycle, the following occurred.

    • Current 5-12 business curriculum was mapped.
    • Best practices and current trends in business were reviewed and discussed.
    • A business benchmarking study was conducted.
    • A district philosophy was drafted based on best practice/current trends and the STMA mission statement/strategic directions.
    • School stakeholders including parents, students, and staff were surveyed.
    • National business standards were reviewed and and placed at each grade level.
    • New resources were examined.

Year two is the actual writing of the curriculum. In this phase, a curricular framework is established, essential questions are written, units are determined, unit essential questions are written and curriculum is mapped. Common assessments are also written and resources are piloted.

During year three, curriculum will be field tested and revisions will be made. Years four through six involve monitoring and making changes as needed.
